Icebox Butter Horns





Icebox Butterhorns Recipe

Icebox Butter Horns

2 ½ tsp yeast
1 egg beaten
2Tbs warm water
2 tsp salt
¼ cup sugar
½ cup melted butter
2 cups warm milk
5-6 cups flour

Combine yeast, water and sugar let sit 5 minutes.  Add milk, egg, salt, and 2 cups flour, mix.  Add butter and 3 plus more cups of flour.  Mix well for smooth dough, do not kneed.  Let sit in refrigerator overnight.  Divide dough into 6 equal parts.  Roll each piece into large thin circle.  Cut into pie shape and roll like crescent rolls.  Let rest for 2 hours.  Bake 12-15 in preheated 425 oven until lightly brown. 

I make these in a kitchen aid large mixer.  The idea is to not spend time kneading them.
